Will Durant

Will Durant was an American historian, philosopher, and author who wrote one of the most ambitious works of popular history ever attempted. Born in 1885, he spent over forty years writing The Story of Civilization, an eleven-volume series covering the history of Western civilisation. The Age of Faith is the fourth volume of The Story of Civilization, covering the medieval period from Constantine to Dante. Durant's writing is celebrated for its extraordinary scope, its literary elegance, and its ability to make vast sweeps of history accessible and compelling. Durant died in 1981. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers sweeping, beautifully written history on a grand scale — the work of a lifetime that brings entire civilisations to life.
