Adam Rutherford is a British geneticist, author, and broadcaster whose popular science writing and presenting have made him one of the UK's most prominent science communicators. Born in 1975, he studied Genetics at University College London, where he earned his PhD, and has worked at the journal Nature. He presents Inside Science on BBC Radio 4 and has made numerous television documentaries. Rutherford's books include Creation: The Origin of Life, A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived (which uses genetics to tell the story of humanity), The Book of Humans, How to Argue with a Racist (which dismantles the pseudoscience behind racial thinking), and Control: The Dark History and Troubling Present of Eugenics. A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived explores what the human genome reveals about our history, our ancestors, and the surprising genetic connections between all people alive today. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers accessible, witty, and authoritative science writing that illuminates what DNA tells us about who we are — and decisively debunks the pseudoscience that tries to divide us.
