Alan Cumming OBE is a Scottish actor, singer, writer, and activist whose career has ranged from the Royal Shakespeare Company to the X-Men franchise to Broadway musicals. Born in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, he trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Cumming won a Tony Award for his performance as the Emcee in the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret, a role he reprised in 2014. His film credits include GoldenEye, Eyes Wide Shut, X2, and The Anniversary Party (which he also co-directed). On television, he starred in The Good Wife and Instinct. Cumming is a bestselling memoirist (Not My Father's Son) and has narrated his own books, bringing a candid, warm, and frequently very funny delivery to deeply personal material. His Scottish accent, theatrical training, and emotional openness make him a compelling narrator. As an audiobook narrator, Cumming brings exceptional range — from classical theatre to sharp contemporary humour — and a voice that is both distinctive and instantly engaging. For listeners who appreciate narration with personality, warmth, and real theatrical skill, Alan Cumming is a vibrant and entertaining choice.
