Alan Davies

Alan Davies is a British comedian, actor, and author best known for his long-running role as the resident panellist on QI alongside Stephen Fry and Sandi Toksvig, and for starring as the title character in the crime drama Jonathan Creek. Born in Loughton, Essex, in 1966, he studied Drama at the University of Kent and became a successful stand-up comedian before moving into television. His memoir Just Ignore Him is a deeply personal and courageously honest account of growing up with an abusive father, dealing with the early death of his mother, and finding his way to comedy and a career in performance. The book moves between his childhood in suburban Essex and his adult life, written with the observational skill of a comedian but addressing subjects that are anything but funny. His audiobooks — narrated in his own familiar, warm voice — and books offer listeners and readers a brave, moving memoir that demonstrates how comedy and pain often share the same root, told with honesty, intelligence, and the occasional flash of the wit that has made him beloved by millions.
