Anne Enright

Narrator

Anne Enright is one of Ireland's most celebrated living writers — a novelist and short story writer whose work explores family, memory, desire, and the complexities of Irish life with extraordinary precision and wit. Born in Dublin in 1962, she studied English and Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin and Creative Writing at the... University of East Anglia. She was the inaugural Laureate for Irish Fiction (2015-2018). Enright's novels include The Gathering (which won the Man Booker Prize in 2007), The Forgotten Waltz, The Green Road, and Actress, which follows the daughter of a famous Irish actress as she tries to piece together the truth about her mother's chaotic, glamorous, destructive life. Her writing is characterised by its forensic observation of family dynamics, its dark humour, and its ability to capture the way memory distorts and reveals in equal measure. She has also published acclaimed short story collections and the non-fiction work Making Babies. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers literary fiction of the highest order — prose that is sharp, funny, and devastatingly exact about the mess of being alive. Read more Show less
