Fiona Shaw
Narrator
Fiona Shaw CBE is an Irish actress and theatre director of extraordinary range and reputation. Born in Cork, she trained at RADA and launched a career that has taken her from the great stages of London and New York to Hollywood blockbusters. Shaw's theatrical career is legendary. Her performances in productions by Deborah Warner —... including Electra, Medea, Richard II, and The Waste Land — are considered some of the most important theatrical events of the last three decades. Her one-woman performance of The Waste Land, staged in various unconventional venues, was a landmark of modern theatre. On screen, Shaw is known for playing Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter films, Marnie Stonebrook in True Blood, Carolyn Martens in Killing Eve, and has appeared in The Tree of Life, The Black Dahlia, and Enola Holmes. Her television work has earned her an Emmy nomination. As an audiobook narrator, Shaw brings the power and intelligence of one of the theatre world's most formidable performers. Her Irish-accented voice is compelling and distinctive, and her command of language — honed through decades of performing poetry, Shakespeare, and modernist texts — gives her narration an unusual depth and musicality. Shaw was appointed CBE in 2001 for services to drama. She is also an accomplished director, having directed opera at the English National Opera and Glyndebourne. Her audiobook performances carry the authority of a performer who has spent her career at the intersection of classical training and avant-garde experimentation. For listeners who want narration that is both intellectually rigorous and emotionally powerful, Fiona Shaw is exceptional. Read more Show less
