Peter Capaldi is a Scottish actor, writer, and filmmaker best known for playing the Twelfth Doctor in the BBC series Doctor Who from 2013 to 2017 and the furious spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in the BBC series The Thick of It. Born in Glasgow in 1958, he won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life in 1995 and a BAFTA Television Award for The Thick of It.
