What to expect

2 Baruch, also known as the Syriac Apocalypse of Baruch, is a profound piece of Jewish literature written following the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 AD. Attributed to Baruch ben Neriah, the scribe of the Prophet Jeremiah, this text offers a window into the spiritual and existential crises of its time. Through a series of divine revelations and apocalyptic visions, 2 Baruch confronts the profound grief and disarray experienced by the Jewish people in the wake of Jerusalem's fall. It explores why suffering befalls the righteous and how justice might ultimately be realized. Through its apocalyptic visions, 2 Baruch contemplates the ultimate fate of the righteous and the wicked, the resurrection of the dead, and the coming of a new age heralded by the Messiah.
