What to expect
A week’s holiday in a luxurious hotel is just what Scotland Yard’s Superintendent Duncan Kincaid needs. But his vacation ends dramatically with the discovery of a dead body in the whirlpool bath.
Despite a suspicious lack of cooperation from the local constabulary, Kincaid’s keen sense of duty won’t allow him to ignore the heinous crime, impelling him to send for his enthusiastic young assistant, Sergeant Gemma James. But the stakes are raised significantly when a second murder occurs, and Kincaid and James find themselves locked in a determined hunt for a fiendish felon looking for fresh blood.
Critics Review
-
“Narrator Michael Deehy rocks! His reading of this mystery is done in a clear British accent with careful attention to the author’s directives. With his narration, each character’s expressions are appropriately inflected to emphasize Crombie’s dialogue. Deehy’s depiction of vacationing Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid underscores his cautious yet caring manner. His partner, the warmer, more excitable Sergeant Gemma James, balances the tone. Deehy applies distinctive characterizations to the cast of young and old…His superb reading doesn’t miss a beat as Kincaid and James unravel the details of oddly intertwined time-share owners to find a killer.”
