What to expect

I've given this 4 stars, which is pretty good - I'm a fan of Philip Kerr - to be honest, though, I was a bit disappointed with this. I enjoyed the first Scott Manson novel, and the second, but this one has too little in the way of detection and plot, and too much opining about football and contemporary life. Not that I've anything against opining about football or contemporary life, just that it goes on a bit here, and is no replacement for engaging characters and interesting plot, of which there is not enough here. I would, however, have liked to see the Scott Manson series continue - it's a real shame that Philip Kerr is no longer around.
