The Sunday Times and New York Times Bestseller
The secret to productivity isn’t discipline. It’s joy.
We have all been told that the secret to productivity is simple: work harder. The trouble is, endless hard work doesn’t just make us unhappier – it makes us less productive too.
Here, Dr Ali Abdaal draws on the latest scientific research to show that the most productive people aren’t those with the strongest discipline, or even the best habits: they’re the ones who find meaning in the tasks before them. Along the way, he sketches out a healthier, happier path to accomplishing what matters – one rooted in discovering joy in everything you do.
'The master of productivity.' Steven Bartlett, creator of Diary of a CEO
'The book we've all been waiting for.' Dr Julie Smith, author of Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?
'Will guide you to accomplish more than you ever dreamed of.' Jay Shetty, author of Think Like a Monk and 8 Rules of Love

A much-needed antidote to hustle culture, this book is a reality check for any ambitious person who wants to build sustainable success. It offers the most practical approach to productivity that no one says yet all of us need to hear

Very good. Ali trained as a doctor and really researches his stuff . . . If you are stuck in a job you hate, or are finding it hard to get up any enthusiasm for tasks, then Feel-Good Productivity might be the book for you . . . Ali does not suggest that we blindly aim to do more — or try to become much more efficient. That way, unhappiness and burnout lie.
Financial Times

In this eye-opening and important new book, Ali Abdaal flips the conventional narrative on productivity: accomplishing important things is not about creating more efficient systems but instead about cultivating a deeper energy for your work. This really got me thinking!

Some useful advice, but from my experience much of it is generalisation and common sense, enveloped in psychological terms and titles. There are, in my opinion, better books in the genre that I would sooner recommend. Yet, this might serve as a good introduction to time management and decision making for those unfamiliar to the ideas surrounding it from previous works.
