I think the book’s title doesn’t really suit the story. The main theme of domestic abuse and power seemed quite well handled but the wealth of some of the characters seemed to be a plot device to explain some of the less realistic aspects. Maybe I’ve just read a few too many more wealth than sense books recently! The two main characters are likeable and have some sense of depth. The villain appears to be basically 2D and not unpacked at all. I think this was deliberate- the reader probably wouldn’t want to find themselves with empathy for an abuser but it left some of the story feeling especially contrived. Overall, quite a good listen.
