I enjoyed this story more than I expected to. I think it reflected well some of the atmosphere of growing up in the sixties and seventies. The characters were well drawn, and I felt the house became a character in the story in its own right. The book captured some of the sense of entitlement that some people had at the time, and the contradiction between the way they had been brought up as opposed to the next generation. I think the story will chime with others who, like me, were born in 1960 or thereabouts
