What to expect
Ten-year-old Finn, a quirky, sensitive boy who talks a lot and only eats at cafes with a 5-star hygiene rating, is having a tough time at school and home.
Outspoken Kaz, 59, who has an acerbic sense of humour and a heart of gold, is working at the café when Finn and his mum come in.
They don't know it yet, but the second time they meet will be a moment which changes both of their lives forever . . .

Original and moving

A well-drawn story of love, empathy and friendship

I tore through it, alternating between rage and pain. In particular, Kaz (and Terry's) situation is explored with forensic authenticity - Linda has centred the experience of people so often treated as marginal in fiction
Shelley Harris, author of VIGILANTE
-
Heart-rending and packed with emotion - a thought-provoking read
Rosanna Ley, author of THE LEMON TREE HOTEL

Such a beautiful, careful, thoughtful, gorgeously-observed story, where the characters pulsated off the page. And oh, the finale... A breathtaking moment where I think my heart stopped. I cried and cried
