What to expect
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meets IT in award-winning author Neil Kleid’s latest horror sensation.
Ten years ago, five children were lured into the dark machinations of a twisted, whimsical toymaker, forced to compete for a grand prize—all the toys they could ever dream of—and, as happened, their lives.
Today four of those kids—now morally ambiguous young adults—seek revenge on the insane man who terrorized them, and once again find themselves trapped inside his factory of horrors, all while attempting to save the fifth member of their group, who “won” the contest … but was left behind.
Critics Review
-
“Graphic novelist Neil Kleid makes the jump back into prose with both fists and a stick of dynamite in his back pocket. Return to the Motherfreaking Fun Factory is literary punk rock of the first order. Fast, loud, hilarious, bloody, and scary as hell. Beneath the delicious jump scares and hard left turns simmers a serious tale that touches on trauma, guilt, atonement, and the agonizing process of facing our own personal demons. Whatever you do, find this nasty puppy and read it!”
Jay Bonansinga, New York Times bestselling author of The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor and Stan Lee’s The Devil’s Quintet
-
“A twisted, haunting tale of horror about lost youth and the dark side of your imagination. Kleid’s best work—evoking classics like It and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory through his own, unique voice.”
Alex Segura, bestselling author of Secret Identity and Daredevil: Enemy of My Enemy
-
“A demented and highly original journey into a world of pure evisceration—and imagination. Kleid expertly weaves inventively horrific scares into an examination of how our childhoods inform the people we become, and how they contrast with the people we want to be. The result is a freakishly strange and moving novella that’s unlike anything else you’ll read this year.”
Brian Asman, author of Man, F*ck This House and #VanDeath
