What to expect
Perfect for fans of Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Being Good, Tom Gates, and Charlie Changes into a Chicken, Scarlet Saves the Multiverse is the unbelievably funny, exciting, and action-packed sequel to Scarlet: Defender of the Universe – a middle-grade Guardians of the Galaxy.
Wanna see a magic trick? OF COURSE YOU DO!! I can guess what time it is. I don’t know who you are or where you’re from, so I won’t know what time it is there, right?
WRONG.
I’m going to tell you what time it is at the count of three. Ready?
One.
Two.
Three …
It’s READING TIME!
Fine. I owe you a magic trick.
Okay, let’s do a quick recap … Scarlet became Defender of the Universe after answering an ad in the Beano. She saved the world from an attack by alien Gunks, then accidentally tore a hole in space–time by travelling back in time, thereby duplicating herself. A disturbing glitch in the multiverse. Which means that there are now two Scarlets. And I can tell you straight away that it’s not been easy for Scarlet trying to hide another her about the house!
Great, we’re all caught up again. If you haven’t read the first book, Scarlet: Defender of the Universe, then I’ve just told you what happens, so there’s probably no need to. Unless you like laughing and having the best time of your life, then maybe go and read it.
Scarlet is in trouble. LOTS of trouble.
Not only does she have to hide the other Scarlet – the one who appeared in her house after she travelled back in time – from her mum and dad. She ALSO has to save the universe again. And not just one universe. All of them.
But first she has to stop a species of cyber beetles from becoming extinct, hack into a giant supercomputer, and find a cure for the mysterious illness that’s threatening the life of a very important dolphin.
Illustrated throughout in black and white by Dotty Sutton, and perfect for fans of Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to Being Good, My Brother is a Superhero, Charlie Changes into a Chicken and Mr Gum, Scarlet Saves the Multiverse is the unbelievably funny, exciting, and action-packed sequel to Scarlet: Defender of the Universe – a middle-grade Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
