I loved this book from minute one to the very end. Granted I am a Cricket nut, however, I’m not too keen on cricket accounts that reel out statistic after statistic. I think the book gets the balance bang on, moves smoothly forward and back and forward again in time telling the history of this brilliant form of a sport. It is critical where it needs to be and does not pull punches and yet it is also positive. I learnt so much. My friend lent me the book, which I thought I’d never manage or get round to. So glad I decided to download the audio version. One of the best ‘reads’ - and very well read to boot - I’ve had for some time. Like a sweet cover drive or clip for 4 through mid wicket, this is a book for the fan or someone who wants to understand what this great game is all about.
