One of the best crime thriller books we have listened to. A long book but thoroughly enjoyable. The narrators were excellent.
The first book by Jane Casey we have bought, as soon as I finish this review I'm looking for the next one!

I chose this book as the first of a popular well reviewed series. I found it totally engrossing, beautifully read and very worthwhile. The protagonist, Maeve, is the ubiquitous super competent young female detective, her story used as a backdrop for such topics as controlling partners, sexism in the police force but mostly the unpredictability of life. The search for truth can be hampered by a desire for a particular outcome, it takes courage to read the facts, follow the logic and understand the real facts however unpalatable. There were several points where I thought the story would finish, but it didn't. We get a what happened next and then a what happened after that. I am now looking out for the second book in the series.
