Synopsis
The Castle of Otranto is a foundational work of Gothic fiction and one of the earliest novels to combine medieval setting, supernatural terror, family secrets, prophecy, and emotional melodrama. Set in a haunted castle filled with hidden passages, mysterious signs, and ancestral shadows, the story follows Prince Manfred as his ambition and fear drive him toward increasingly desperate acts. After a shocking supernatural event disrupts his family line, Manfred becomes obsessed with preserving power and securing his dynasty. Around him, innocent characters are drawn into a world of imprisonment, pursuit, forbidden desire, mistaken identity, and ominous prophecy. The novel's atmosphere of dread, mystery, and medieval grandeur helped establish many of the conventions later used in Gothic literature. This Audiobook was narrated using AI-generated voice technology.
