THE HISTORY OF HISTORICAL WRITING IN AMERICA by J. Franklin Jameson, PhD, Professor of History at Brown University. Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1891.

Jameson helped found the American Historical Association (1884), and was the first managing editor of the American Historical Review. He also wrote The American Revolution Considered as a Social Movement (1926) and invited W. E. B. Du Bois to present a paper concerning Reconstruction at the 1909 AHA meeting.
