Synopsis

This collection features unabridged recordings of the final three novels in E.F. Benson's beloved Mapp and Lucia series. Mapp and Lucia: Widowed for almost a year, Lucia has been deeply mourning her much-loved husband Peppino. Returning to society, Lucia is horrified to discover that she has been edged off her pedestal - and learns, to her horror, that Daisy Quantock is to take over her role of queen of the village fete! When a fuming Lucia decamps to the village of Tilling, how will she fare against her new opponent - Miss Mapp? Lucia's Progress: With Lucia's fiftieth birthday looming, she takes stock of her life's achievements - and finds them lacking. Determined to take up a new pursuit, and decides to stand for the Town Council. However, as Lucia dives into the world of electioneering, her rival Miss Mapp - now Mrs Mapp-Flint - remains dedicated to thwarting her ambitions. . . Trouble for Lucia: Now Mayor of Tilling - and married to Georgie Pillson - Lucia must select her Mayoress. In the name of holding one's friends close and one's enemies even closer, she opts for her rival Elizabeth Mapp-Flint, hoping to keep her muzzled by gratitude. Meanwhile, Lucia is kept busy with local politics, swooping through the village on her bicycle, and attending a peculiar séance. . . Narrated by Prunella Scales and Lisa Daniely, this collection brings to life E.F. Benson's comic tales of marriage, mishaps and mayhem.
