What to expect
From New York Times bestselling author D.J. Molles comes a snark-fueled, high-octane alien invasion thriller where humanity’s last hope might just be the most dangerous babysitting job in the galaxy.
Earth’s been toast for five years—ever since the aliens showed up, killed half the population, and penned the rest like cattle. Master Sergeant Sol Winters leads a ragtag resistance team that’s barely clinging to relevance, when an alien ship crashes in his backyard carrying the princess of the empire and her grumpy bodyguard. She claims she’s here to make peace. Sol’s pretty sure she’s lying—but if she’s not, she might be humanity’s only shot at survival.
Too bad everyone else wants her dead. Traitorous humans, rival alien factions, old friends who should’ve stayed dead—suddenly, everyone’s gunning for Sol, his team, and their not-so-willing VIPs. Betrayals pile up, battles get bloodier, and Sol keeps wondering how he got stuck babysitting the galaxy’s most dangerous teenager.
Packed with firefights, backstabbing, and a narrator who can’t help breaking the fourth wall, this is the story of humanity’s last stand … told with a wink, a curse word, and a whole lot of explosions.
