THE SUNDAY TIMES CRIME NOVEL OF THE YEAR 2023
________

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside.

The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organisation that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.

In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner Robin Ellacott decides to infiltrate the cult and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito amongst them. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her . . .

Utterly page-turning, The Running Grave moves Strike and Robin's story forward in the epic, unforgettable seventh instalment of the series.

This is my first audio book.
I was amazed how many characters were read/played by Robert Glenister who never faltered when returning to those characters later in the book. Also my arms didn’t ache as they surely would if I had held the tome that is The Running Grave for hours.
Fantastic and recommended.

This book is amazing; both the story and the narration are first class. At times it was so chilling that my heart rate increased as though it was real. The best of the Strike and Robin novels to date.

I was disappointed in this novel, which is the first Rowling/Galbraith I’ve read. It is far too long and would benefit from a vigorous edit; a good quarter of the book is extraneous. There’s a flatness to writing and many of the characters are one dimensional or stereotypical. The plot is imaginative and interesting but not enough to compensate for the flaws in the writing.

My first Strike novel and boy, it was epic! Great value for an audio book at 32 hours long but an epic story too, brilliantly narrated by Robert Glenister. The story was engrossing and perfect for me to listen too, sometimes for hours at a time, when I was awake in the night. Great characterisations and detail, I loved it!

This was the best in the series so far. Chilling and utterly fascinating, I lost so much sleep. Many loops and twists, tempting theories and a spectacular finale.
