A very ordinary looking book, listened to while waiting for a favourite author's latest to be released.
Several stories are entwined, the characters are linked in unexpected ways.
Tendrils reach back through history, and the reader learns about the treatment of the working classes, particularly women, a century ago.
This warm hearted book was a lovely surprise, the title, though apt, doesn't really hint at the intricacies and depth of this lovely book.
I loved the authentic narration too - the charming Scottish accents adding yet more to the audiobook.
I will definitely be reading more from this talented author.
