Critics Review
-
The illustrations show a gentle countryside in mostly shades of green, grey and apricot -- a perfect backdrop for the picturing of all the animals Douglas meets
School Librarian
-
This warm and funny tale tackles the subject of best friends ... This simple story is brought to life by its appealing and colourful cartoon style characters, and a good dose of child-friendly humour
Carousel
-
Hugless Douglas needs no introduction ... Somehow through all the daftness (the bouncing bunnies are particularly, satisfyingly, silly) the reader has been on a real emotional journey and will close the book smiling and reassured
Books For Keeps
-
David Melling's fourth book about Douglas is as funny and compelling as the first, combining endearing illustrations with an acute sense of what it is like to be a small child learning about the world
