There’s a touch more glamour than his original series, with an ageless best selling female author who lives on her own private island and has a voracious appetite for men, her bodyguard, an A List actor with more looks than brains, and a variety of other characters in exotic locations around the world. But at the core is retired cop Steve, whose life revolves around the weekly pub quiz in a quiet English village and finding people’s lost dogs, being dragged into the jet setting lifestyle of the rich, famous and criminal by threats to the life of his daughter in law.
It’s remarkable how Osman makes all his characters feel like people you’d really like to meet - even the antagonists. It’s a world which feels real but somehow created with such affection that you’re left wishing you could live there, even with the danger of being killed at any moment.
Nicola Walker’s narration was outstanding in her use of accents, intonation and interpretation of character

Think the narrations could have been better, its was read, IMO in a slow tone with little emphasis.
