Critics Review
-
Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award Part natural history, poetry and ecologic statement, Heathcote Williams’s presentation is a moving audio. Listeners will learn and think about whales as never before. In addition, this is a breakthrough in format for audio programs. The presentation combines commentary and prose with historical reference and facts. Williams departs from current forms of spoken audio, such as recorded books, adaptations or radio drama and opens a realm of possibilities. Listeners will be fascinated by the stunning program, and producers should take note of the possibilities showcased in the format.

Synopsis
Whale Nation is a hymn to the beauty, intelligence and majesty of the largest mammal on earth. A ‘green classic’ read with natural resonance by its author, it rarely fails to strike a chord in the hearts of those concerned with the abuse of our planet. On the second CD is a fascinating account of whale history. Sensitively underscored with classical music.
