What to expect
Their mom is the newly elected President of the United States, the Secret Service is always hovering nearby, and First Daughters Marissa and Clara don’t expect they’ll be venturing out anytime soon—until they discover a secret passage in the White House dining room and a candlelit clubhouse full of antique curiosities and
mysterious doors. The candle blows out, a door opens, and the girls find themselves in the White House of President Teddy Roosevelt and his boisterous family. After helping sneak a pony upstairs in the new White House elevator—pursued by the President, wearing boxing gloves—they stow away on a cross-country whistlestop train journey, take on greedy industrialists, and help save California’s redwood forest.
Former vice presidential speechwriter and White House insider Sean O’Brien’s debut is a nonstop, coast-to-coast caper set in the young United States, lit by spirited heroines and packed with scrapes, chases, adventure—and daring.
“In his debut novel, Sean O’Brien creates a wildly unique club every kid will want to join. With a blend of suspenseful action, laugh-out-loud humor, solid history, and a White House insider’s knowledge, White House Clubhouse is a page-turning time-travel romp. It’s deft, fun, and full of surprises.”—PETER LERANGIS, New York Times best-selling author of the Seven Wonders and Throwback series
