We are excited to share our 2023 Impact Report, a comprehensive overview of our commitment to people, planet, and profit. This year marked another step forward in our journey as a B CorpTM, and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made.
Our 2023 report delves into the key metrics that matter to us across customers, community, industry, environmental and shareholders. From the start, it’s been our ambition to use business as a force for good – to allow everyone to enjoy more books by creating the most flexible and accessible digital book experience in the market. And, in doing so, we aim to lead a generational shift in book consumption – away from the incredibly wasteful consumption of disposable physical books.
Working on B-Corp certification was a valuable process for us – it challenged us to be more diligent in our transparency and governance as a business. It was a catalyst to ensure we had the right people policies and procedures in place to support our team effectively. And the annual impact report challenges us to think about what more we can do to reduce our carbon footprint and have a greater influence on our industry to do the same.
In 2023, we’re proud of the amazing work we’ve done to improve the customer experience, including adding over 10k new audiobooks and x-books to the xigxag platform, and signing five new publisher deals (welcome Bloomsbury, Bookwire, Naxos, Zibby and Zebralution!). We’ve also delivered sales for thousands more authors this year.
We’ve also added loads more features and improved our ratings and reviews on both the App Store and the Play Store. We launched a new home screen UI, personalised recommendations and a social feed, plus customer requested features like landscape mode, pre-order, a bestsellers slider, the ability to buy on our website, sleep timer improvements, and kids & teens audiobooks organised by age. Thanks for all the thoughtful suggestions from our amazing customers. We love making the app better for everyone. ?

Our 2023 Impact Report
In the year ahead (2024), we’ll achieve significant reductions in cloud computing costs and, as a result, our carbon footprint, because we’re looking at ways to process and publisher our amazing audiobooks and x-books more efficiently – without impacting the customer experience. We’re also looking forward to partnerships with more industry players to increase our impact – making books even more accessible to an even broader audience.
