Announced by Chair of the judges, Edmund de Waal, at a ceremony held at Old Billingsgate in London, this year’s prize went to Harvey’s incredible, boundary-pushing novel. The prestigious £50,000 prize and the Booker trophy were awarded to her by last year’s winner, Paul Lynch.

In Orbital, Harvey explores a single day in the lives of six astronauts and cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station. Harvey’s novel has been celebrated as both intimate and expansive, offering listeners a chance to experience life beyond our world, yet fully grounded in the universal truths of human experience.
