Ayn Rand was a Russian-American writer and philosopher born in 1905, best known for her novels The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. She developed the philosophical system of Objectivism, championing individualism and rational self-interest. Anthem is her early dystopian novella about a man who rediscovers the concept of the self in a collectivist society.
