Charles Spencer is a British author, historian, journalist, and peer of the realm who is the 9th Earl Spencer and the brother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. Born in 1964, he was educated at Eton College and Magdalen College, Oxford, where he read Modern History. He worked as a journalist and on-air correspondent for NBC News and as a reporter for ITV's Good Morning Britain before focusing on historical writing.
Spencer's books include Blenheim: Battle for Europe, Killers of the King, To Catch a King, and The White Ship, all of which demonstrate his gift for making historical events vivid and accessible. A Very Private School, his memoir about his experiences at a prep school in the 1970s, became a Sunday Times bestseller and drew attention for its candid discussion of the abuse he suffered as a child. He narrates the audiobook himself, adding personal resonance to an already powerful account.
Spencer lives at Althorp, the family estate in Northamptonshire, where he also curates the estate's extensive art collection and library. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers compelling history and memoir from someone with a unique perspective on British life, power, and privilege.
