Jeremy Bowen is one of Britain's most experienced and respected foreign correspondents, a BBC journalist and author whose reporting from conflict zones has shaped public understanding of the Middle East for over three decades. Born in Cardiff in 1960, he studied History at University College London before joining the BBC in 1984. He has served as the BBC's Middle East Editor since 2005.
Bowen has reported from every major conflict in the Middle East since the late 1980s, including the Gulf War, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Iraq War, the Syrian civil war, and the Arab Spring. His books include War Stories and Six Days: How the 1967 War Shaped the Middle East. The Making of the Modern Middle East draws on his decades of on-the-ground experience to explain how the region arrived at its current state — a work of both history and personal witness.
He has won numerous awards for his journalism including multiple BAFTAs and Royal Television Society awards. His audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers an authoritative, human account of the modern Middle East from someone who has witnessed its transformation firsthand.
