Marie Brennan is an American fantasy author and academic whose world-building draws on anthropology, folklore, and natural history. She holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Indiana University.
Driftwood is a mosaic novel set in a place where dying worlds come to their end, exploring what happens to cultures and peoples as their realities fragment. Brennan is best known for the Lady Trent Memoirs, a five-book fantasy series following a female naturalist studying dragons in a Victorian-inspired secondary world.
Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers intellectually rich fantasy built on real anthropological knowledge — fiction where worldbuilding is an art form.
