All the Tranquil Dead

Synopsis

Rosemary for remembrance. But some secrets are better left buried. Detective Inspector Maria Wern wakes up in a dark, concrete bunker with a throbbing head wound and a corpse for a cellmate. The man beside her is cold, dead, and has a single sprig of rosemary pinned to his chest. The message is clear: Someone is watching her. Someone knows her every move. The nightmare began with a routine missing persons report. Rosmarie Haag's husband, a high-end estate agent, vanished after a business dinner with a man whose face was hidden by dark glasses and leather gloves. Maria's superiors dismiss it as a simple case of a husband running astray, but Maria sees the cracks in the story. As Maria digs deeper, she uncovers a web of ancient grudges and modern extremism, where everyone in town seems to have a motive. But as the killer draws Maria into a twisted game of remembrance, she realizes the bunker wasn't just a prison - it was a preview. Under severe time pressure and with a department that refuses to see the truth, Maria must identify a killer who has nothing left to lose before she becomes the next body to disappear. In this pulse-pounding sequel to The Speechless God, Maria Wern discovers that the most dangerous predators don't just kill - they make sure you never forget. 'Tight, captivating and with high speed.
