What to expect
The world has changed forever. Across America, technology has been eclipsed by magic, and ordinary people become the embodiments of their darkest desires, deepest fears, purest selves.
To save his sister, Tina, who has been transformed into one of the ethereal creatures known as flares, former lawyer Cal Griffin seeks out the source of this terrifying phenomenon. Cal and his band of unlikely heroes follow the song of a cursed bluesman and the visions of the charming lunatic Goldie to a secret haven, exempt from the malevolent power. But as the outside world unravels, the salvation of everything left worth saving requires that Cal and his companions journey deep into the soul of darkness to confront the beast ruling the Ruby City once called Chicago.

Kevin J. Anderson, New York Times bestselling author of Dune: House Corrino

Harry Turtledove
-
“Magic Time is a great book! A bold and original science fantasy that, by the end, creates a brand new genre all its own. Epic, believable and very, very cool. When’s the movie coming out?”

“One of the most interesting and promising new fantasy series to come along.”
Orlando Sentinel
-
“Engrossing…The story doesn’t repeat itself; the characters grow…and the ultimate secret of the Source is sufficiently well hidden that several more volumes seem logically justified.”
Publishers Weekly
-
“Something magical happens when [the] separate narrative sections are read by four accomplished voice talents. Listeners not only hear different points of view, they hear the characters interpreting each other’s motives and feelings…I came to like these characters because they came to like each other.”

-
“A terrific story featuring powerful, strong characters…a must for fans of post-apocalyptic fiction.”
Booklist
-
“Bohnhoff’s graceful storytelling and Zicree’s conceptual direction combine seamlessly in a fast-paced fantasy that should appeal to fans of epic adventure and urban fantasy.”
