Synopsis
Hollywood Playhouse – The Heartthrobs Collection is a unique compilation of Oscar winning films specially adapted for the radio and performed by many of the original film stars in front of a live studio audience. Originally broadcast on the radio, they were to become as popular with the public as the movies themselves. IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE with James Stewart, Donna Reed & Victor Moore. The irresistibly heart-warming story of George Bailey, who is prevented from committing suicide, the night before Christmas, by the apprentice angel Clarence, who takes him on a journey back through his life to show him how the town of Bedford Falls would have been had he never lived. IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT with Clark Gable & Claudette Colbert. The first of only three films to win all five major academy awards. Frank Capra’s classic romantic road comedy in which a pampered socialite tries to escape from her father and falls in love with a roguish reporter. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY with Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn & James Stewart. A witty comedy of manners in which Tracy Lord, played by Katharine Hepburn, has to choose which of the three men in her life she truly loves. Nominated for six academy awards. & HOLIDAY INN with Bing Crosby & Dinah Shore, the Irving Berlin musical, which showcases the hit song ‘White Christmas’, and ‘Easter Bonnet’ sung by Bing Crosby.
