A brilliantly controlled narrative … Connelly has two great skills. One is the creation of characters who live and breathe, so that we care about them far more than we do for the cardboard figures stamped out by most thriller writers. His second skill is a mastery of pace. His books are page-turners, and the author is in sublime control of the speed at which we turn those pages. With Void Moon I found myself turning very fast indeed
