What to expect
Who is the real Santa Claus? Is he the jolly old man in the red suit? The mysterious visitor who arrives while everyone is asleep? Or can the spirit of Christmas be found in kindness, generosity, sacrifice, friendship, and the joy of giving? Who Is the Real Santa Claus? brings together a wonderfully varied collection of classic Christmas stories featuring children, animals, adventure, humor, and some very unusual Santas. Meet Mr. Dog, who decides to become Santa Claus for his animal friends at the Hollow Tree Inn. Discover what happens when animals create a Christmas celebration of their own. Then travel far from snowy Christmas traditions to New Zealand for A Southern Cross Fairy Tale by Kate McCosh Clark—a remarkable Christmas adventure set during a warm Southern Hemisphere summer beneath the stars of the Southern Cross. This unusual New Zealand Christmas story gives young listeners a fascinating glimpse of Christmas on the other side of the world, with native birds, animals, landscapes, and a Christmas unlike the snowy traditions familiar to many children. The collection also includes three charming Christmas stories by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey—The Child Who Saw Santa Claus, The Christmas Garden, and The Christmas Tree in the Barn—followed by The Christmas on the Desert by Ethel Twycross Foster, where a child wonders how Santa Claus could possibly find his way across the Arizona desert. A special Bird Dictionary companion track introduces listeners to several of the remarkable New Zealand birds and creatures encountered in A Southern Cross Fairy Tale. With animals, children, Santa Claus, humor, adventure, generosity, and Christmas wonder, this collection offers a fresh journey through old-fashioned holiday storytelling.
