Jules Verne

Jules Verne was a French novelist, poet, and playwright who is regarded as one of the founding fathers of science fiction. Born in Nantes in 1828, he studied law in Paris but abandoned it for writing, eventually becoming one of the most widely translated authors in the world. His Voyages Extraordinaires — a series of over sixty novels — combined scientific speculation with thrilling adventure. Verne's most famous works include Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Around the World in Eighty Days, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and From the Earth to the Moon. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, featuring the enigmatic Captain Nemo and his submarine Nautilus, remains a masterpiece of speculative adventure — a novel that imagined underwater exploration decades before it became reality. His fiction anticipated submarines, space travel, helicopters, and many other technological achievements. Verne died in 1905, having published over seventy books. His audiobooks and books continue to thrill listeners and readers with their combination of scientific imagination, breakneck adventure, and visionary speculation — proof that great storytelling and big ideas are natural companions.
