Ruth Rendell was one of Britain's greatest crime writers, whose prolific output of psychological thrillers and detective fiction earned her universal critical acclaim. Born in South Woodford, London, in 1930, she also wrote under the pen name Barbara Vine. She was created Baroness Rendell of Babergh.
A Sight for Sore Eyes is a standalone psychological thriller — one of her chilling non-series novels that explore the dark impulses behind ordinary facades. Rendell's Inspector Wexford series spans over twenty novels. Her fiction is distinguished by its psychological depth, its social observation, and its understanding of the darkness within apparently normal people.
Rendell died in 2015. Her audiobooks and books offer listeners and readers masterful psychological crime fiction from one of the genre's all-time greats.
