What to expect
Mary Slessor left the mills of Scotland to carry the Gospel into one of the most feared and dangerous regions of West Africa. Armed with little more than fierce courage, unwavering faith, and deep compassion, she walked alone into tribal territories where violence, superstition, and fear ruled daily life.
Known eventually as “The White Queen of Okoyong,” Mary became a peacemaker, missionary, rescuer of abandoned children, and trusted leader among the people she served. Facing sickness, isolation, and constant danger, she earned respect not through force, but through sacrificial love and fearless determination.
Written by renowned biographer W. P. Livingstone, this inspiring true story captures one woman’s extraordinary devotion and the lasting impact of Christian missions in Africa. Rich with adventure, cultural encounters, and spiritual conviction, this classic biography remains one of the most compelling missionary stories ever written.
