Critics Review
-
‘A real humdinger. The best MacLean.’
Daily Mirror -
‘There is a splendid audacity about Where Eagles Dare, in which a handful of British agents invade an “impenetrable” Gestapo command post … MacLean offers a real dazzler of a thriller, with vivid action, fine set pieces of suspense and a virtuoso display of startling plot twists.’

Now this is my favourite war film, and easily sits within my top 5 films of all time, but I’d never read (or listened to!) the source material.unlike some adaptations which are virtually unrecognisable from the book, I hadn’t realised how faithful the story and indeed the dialogue is to the book, which is a testament to the author, if it ain’t broke after all.
